Brother Rice senior Alex Majewski showed off an impressive arsenal Friday against Seton. The 6-7 senior scored in a variety of ways, nearly all of which demonstrated an extraordinary effort and will to win.

But he sure cant shoot free throws.

Dont even ask me about free throws, Majewski said.

So, of course, thats what the game came down to. Majewski rose to the occasion, draining two free throws with 13 seconds to play to give the No. 18 Crusaders a 51-49 win over Seton in Chicago.

Both free throws hit the back of the rim and fell through the net.

I know I have to clear my head and stay calm, Majewski said. I think I had a little luck.

Majewski finished with 28 points and eight rebounds. According to Brother Rice coach Pat Richardson, Majewski is now the Crusaders No. 2 all-time scorer.

I told him after the game that when you were pathetic, horrible and brutal it was nice of him to make the two big free throws, Richardson said.
Majewski came into the game shooting 68 percent from the free-throw line. He was 4-for-10 from the line in the game.

I was really proud of him, Richardson said. To make two shots like that is hard for anyone, even a good free-throw shooter.

Kamal Shasis three with 2:55 to play in the third quarter gave Seton a 39-29 lead. Brother Rice (17-2, 6-1 Catholic League South) immediately responded with a 9-0 run to nearly erase the deficit.

We dont stop, we dont stop, the game is never over, Majewski said. Weve been in games like that before. We were down by a lot to Schaumburg early in the season and kept our composure.

Quinn Niego added 11 points and six rebounds and Ray Rubio scored six for Brother Rice.

The sign of a great team is one that can come back from a big win over a rival like we had on Tuesday against Marist and keep the intensity up for the next one, Richardson said. We didnt have it at the start but we found it.

Mark Weems Jr. led Seton (14-9, 6-2) with 21 points and Shasi added nine.
