City/Suburban Showdown preview

Saturday's annual City/Suburban Showdown is one of the season's best showcases as this year's event at Lyons Township is a great doubleheader.

The Integrity Group has done a tremendous job of bringing two great matchups right before the playoffs and this season is no different.

In the undercard at 6 p.m., No. 1 Morgan Park takes on No. 10 Riverside-Brookfield. The Mustangs will be coming off of Friday night's Public League Playoff semifinal against Simeon while Riverside-Brookfield is trying to close out a perfect conference record against Glenbard South.

This one is especially big for the Bulldogs because they could use a win over a top-caliber opponent to boost their confidence heading into the playoffs. If Riverside-Brookfield's guards can hang with Player of the Year front runner Charlie Moore, then the Bulldogs have a shot.

And the second game at 8 p.m. puts No. 3 Simeon against No. 4 Evanston. Entering Friday night's game at Maine South, Evanston has won 13 consecutive games as the Wildkits are getting balanced play led by star junior Nojel Eastern.

The Wolverines are coming off of the Public League Playoff semifinals against Morgan Park the night before and they're led by senior Zach Norvell.
