Dirk Nowitzki trolls Pau Gasol to celebrate 1,000th career game

Dirk's got jokes.

Pau Gasol will play in his 1,000th career game Saturday night when the Bulls square off against the Charlotte Hornets.

To commemorate the accomplishment - Gasol will become the 116th player in NBA history to do so - Gasol took to his Twitter account and asked fans to upload their most creative videos of their favorite plays from his illustrious 15-year career.

Regardless of the submissions, the winner of Gasol's "contest" will be Nowitzki, who submitted this gem:

That, of course, would be Orlando's Nikola Vucevic obliterating Gasol on a dunk in last year's Magic victory.

Gasol took the troll in good fashion, but he certainly won't forget about it when the two teams meet the day after Christmas in Dallas.

Fred Hoiberg discussed at shootaround Saturday how impressed he's been at Gasol's longevity considering he competes with Spain's national team most summers.

"It’s amazing. At his age with the workload he’s had – it’s not like Pau takes the summers off; he’s playing a high level every summer, and probably none more than this last summer where he was playing every minute of the European championships and maybe played his best basketball of his career, and that’s saying something with the type of career he’s had – for 1000 games, for him to go out and play a high level consistently," Hoiberg said, "that says a lot about who Pau Gasol is."
