Huskies ascend into AP, USA Top 25 Rankings

For the first time since 2010, Northern Illinois has cracked the Top 25 Rankings in both the Associated Press (24) and USA Today Coaches' Poll (23).

The Huskies had led the "Also Receiving Votes" category last week, but their 31-24 victory over Toledo Thursday night vaulted them into the Top 25 for the first time all season.

Kent State, who the Huskies will square off with in the MAC Championship at Ford Field on Nov. 30, moved to No. 23 in the latest BCS Standings. A victory over the Golden Flashes would certainly catapult Northern Illinois into the BCS picture.

NIU, winners of 10 straight games after a season-opening one-point loss to Iowa, is ranked in the polls for just the 12th week in school history. The highest mark the Huskies have reached was No. 12 in the AP poll from Oct. 12-Oct. 19 in 2003.

Next up for the Huskies is the regular season finale of the MAC West Division against Eastern Michigan.
