The Fighting Illini officially locked in a No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament.  It’s their first No. 1 seed in March Madness since the 2005 season when Illinois lost in the championship game to North Carolina.

They’ll take on Drexel in their first round game, with a potential matchup against No. 8 seed Loyola in the second round, if the Ramblers can make it past Georgia Tech.

The Fighting Illini won the Big Ten Tournament with a 91-88 win over Ohio State on Sunday. It was their first conference tourney championship since 2005.

They are led by Ayo Dosunmu who averaged 20.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game this season, and Kofi Cockburn who averaged 17.6 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game this season.
