Jrue Holiday (elbow) will miss game prior to matchup with Bulls

On Saturday, the Bulls fell to the Celtics sans Kemba Walker. On Monday, they face the Mavericks without Kristaps Porzingis. Shorthanded opponents are becoming a trend.

And it might continue. After Dallas, the Bulls' next game is a matchup with the Pelicans in New Orleans on Wednesday. According to the Pelicans, starting point guard Jrue Holiday is ailing and will miss the team's Monday night game against the Jazz:

Holiday is currently the Pelicans' second leading scorer, averaging 19.6 points per game, and a premier defender at the guard and wing spots. He's made two All-Defense teams in his career and is in the third year of a 5-year, $132 million contract.

Missing Monday's game will be only his third missed contest of the season.

The Pelicans are also, of course, still without Zion Williamson, who's missed the first three months of the season with a torn meniscus in his right knee. Since fully participating in Pelicans' practice last week, no new developments have surfaced related to his return.

At 12-24, New Orleans is slugging through what was once expected to be an enormously exciting season. Without Holiday, Wednesday's game would become exceedingly winnable for the visiting Bulls.
