Matt Forte’s almost routine delivery of elite-level play has not been lost on his peers. The Bears’ running back turns up at No. 48 on NFL.com’s list of top 100 players, as selected by current NFL players.

Forte is the first Bear to appear on this year’s list, released in groups of 10 starting with Nos. 100-91. Former Bears Greg Olsen (89), Julius Peppers (71) and Brandon Marshall (57) have been among the results released so far.

This is likely to be a slim year for Bears honors after last year’s dismal 5-11 finish. Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery and guard Kyle Long are expected to be among the top 40 that will be released over the next several weeks.

Forte came in at No. 91 last year, trailing Tim Jennings (74), who appeared to slip out of the top 100 after an interception-less 2014. Jeffery was No. 54 in the 2014 rankings.

Jared Allen (68) and Antrel Rolle (72) scored among the top 10 after the 2013 season with their former teams, Allen as a Viking and Rolle as a Giant.
