University of Missouri Head Basketball Coach Frank Haith announced his 2012-13 coaching staff has been completed with the hiring of Dave Leitao as an assistant coach on Friday.

Leitao is the former Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year and earned a pair of conferences championships while serving as the head coach at DePaul in 2004 and Virginia in 2007. Throughout his career, he has made 21 postseason appearances, qualifying for 12 NCAA Tournaments when he served as the Associate Head Coach at the University of Connecticut under Jim Calhoun.

Leitao now comes to Mizzou with 26 season of coaching experience, including 143 career game wins as a head coach and three 20-win seasons.

What a great complement to the University of Missouri to bring in a coach the caliber of Dave Leitao to work with our student-athletes, Head Coach Frank Haith said. Dave was a guy I really enjoyed competing against in the Atlantic Coast Conference because you knew his teams would play tough, physical and would really attack you every possession.

Dave brings a wealth of knowledge to our program, Haith continued. He was mentored by one of college basketballs all-time greats in Coach (Jim) Calhoun and he helped recruit key pieces for their NCAA Championship team in 1998-99. We are excited to have Dave join our family here at Mizzou.
