This was one of those rare losses that could put a smile on the face of Fire coach Frank Klopas.
Wednesday was hardly Austin Berry’s night – even though the young defender scored the Fire’s winning goal in a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids at Toyota Park.
Granted, three more victories are still needed. Still, the Fire’s chances of winning the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup for the fifth time look promising.
The Fire is excited now, and there’s good reason for it.
Those 2-0 wins over the minor league Charlotte Eagles and D.C. United, the worst team in Major League Soccer, in the last two matches were nice.
