Hockey fans have spent a lot of time guessing as to what Seattle will call their expansion franchise that the city was awarded by the NHL in December of 2018.
On Thursday morning, the club announced that the full team name will be the Seattle Kraken.
Seattle will have its expansion draft in June of 2021.
The organization, along with developer Oak View Group, recently announced their venue would be called Climate Pledge Arena at Seattle Center. The naming rights were purchased by Amazon.
According to the NBC affiliate in Seattle, the team's ownership group also registered for trademarks including Totems, Emeralds, Rainiers, Renegades, Sea Lions, Seals, Evergreens, Whales, Cougars, Eagles, and Firebirds.
