St. Viator junior three-star ranked tight end Cole Kmet (6-foot-4, 220 pounds) gave Notre Dame and head coach Brian Kelly his verbal commitment Friday morning.

"It was mostly a gut feeling and knowing that Notre Dame was a place for me," Kmet said. "It felt right. I was comfortable with the whole situation all the way from football to school."

Kmet, who had been gaining recruiting interest and traction this fall, decided on the Fighting Irish over offers from the likes of Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Vanderbilt among others.
