After missing the entirety of last season, it seems like Vic Law is ready to go for Northwestern.

The redshirt sophomore dropped a career-high 18 points in his return to the Wildcats after missing all of last season while recovering from shoulder surgery as Northwestern flew past Mississippi Valley State in the season-opener, 94-63, on Friday night in Evanston.

Law was 7-for-10 from the field, including 3-for-4 from 3-point range, leading the team in scoring with his 18 points. He also tallied six rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals in his first game since March of last year.

Scottie Lindsey added 17 points, and three other Cats scored 11: Sanjay Lumpkin, Bryant McIntosh and freshman Isiah Brown.

Northwestern shot 50 percent from the field as a team, holding MSVU to 37.7-percent shooting. The Cats were 11-for-26 from behind the 3-point line, going 19-for-29 from the free-throw line. While the 10 missed free throws were less than ideal, the visiting Delta Devils missed 15, going 14-for-29 from the stripe. Northwestern blasted MVSU on the boards, 50-32, and held double-digit advantages in points in the paint and points off turnovers.

The Cats grabbed a season-opening win and next play Eastern Washington on Monday night in Evanston.
