David Purcey has been outrighted off the 40-man roster to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, the White Sox announced.
Purcey went 1-1 with a 2.13 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 25 1/3 innings this season.
Left-handed hitters were only 9-for-44 (.205) against Purcey, 31, who also pitched in 26 games at Charlotte.
With 2 years, 133 days of service time in the majors, Purcey qualifies for “Super Two” arbitration status, which would mean he’d receive a raise. The top tier of players with two-plus years of service time qualify for arbitration -- normally offered to players after three seasons -- early.
The move reduces the number of players on the White Sox 40-man roster to 36.
