The White Sox have agreed in principle to sign second-round pick Spencer Adams for slot money, a source said Monday.
Adams, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound prep right-hander, still needs to take a physical, but agreed to sign and is expected to be in Chicago for a physical on Tuesday. Baseball America said the suggested slot-signing bonus for the 44th overall pick is $1,282,700.
Many prognosticators had Adams ranked anywhere from 23rd to 37th on their draft talent boards. Adams had committed to Georgia.
