Left-handed pitcher Scott Downs is close to a deal with the White Sox.
The deal is pending a physical.
Downs went 4-4 with a 2.49 ERA in 68 games last season for the Los Angeles Angels and Atlanta Braves.
The White Sox had been without a veteran lefty in the bullpen since they traded Matt Thornton to the Boston Red Sox last July. Thornton signed a two-year deal with the New York Yankees earlier this week.
Downs, 37, has a 3.48 ERA in 548 career appearances.
He is set to earn $4 million this season and has a vesting option for $4 million in 2015. The deal vests if Downs pitches his normal workload, per Ken Rosenthal.
Fox Sports 1 first reported the deal.
